About Mythoskolis

Mythoskolis is a cultural mediation project dedicated to mythology (Greek mythology only, at least in its initial phase), with the aim of making its stories, figures, and symbols accessible to everyone. The site offers a clear, structured, and modern approach to ancient traditions that are often rich, complex, and sometimes contradictory.

Project philosophy

Mythoskolis is built around a simple idea: sharing a love for myth by combining scholarly rigor, clarity, and imagination. The content is designed to illuminate without weighing the reader down, to encourage further exploration rather than impose a single, authoritative reading.

Each profile, resource, and visual representation aims to provide an accessible point of entry, grounded in the main ancient sources, while remaining aware of the diversity of versions and traditions.

A personal, cultural, and technical project

Mythoskolis is created and developed by a single person, formerly a primary school teacher and, at the time of writing, undergoing a professional career transition. The writing, structure, ergonomics, pages, animations, and genealogical model are all original and developed during personal time, with care and passion. The site is built with the assistance of Codex and Sonnet.

The project has no commercial purpose. It is conceived as a space for study and sharing, developed with the greatest possible attention to quality and coherence.

Mythoskolis also serves as a technical showcase. It acts as a testing ground for complex data structuring, relational modeling, interactive visualization, and the design of narrative tools. Development progresses iteratively, allowing the site’s architecture, usability, and features to be continuously refined. The site is powered by Astro for HTML generation and styled with Tailwind, while the HoloGraph relies on a dedicated JS/CSS rendering layer. Data is structured in YAML and managed through a custom-built inspector developed specifically for this project.

A public GitHub repository aimed at technical audiences and recruiters, as well as my LinkedIn profile (both in French), are available here:

Visual Representations

Mythoskolis offers two visual entry modes: Interpretation and Iconography.

The Interpretation mode presents images and animations created by the author using artificial intelligence tools. These creations serve as visual support designed to enhance understanding and provide overall coherence. They reflect a compositional and atmospheric approach and do not claim to replace traditional illustration.

The Iconography mode prioritizes works drawn from artistic heritage or public domain collections. These images are subject to careful editorial treatment: they are verified, properly credited, and precisely sourced. Whenever possible, full references and the names of holding institutions are provided.

The choice between these two approaches is entirely free and can be modified at any time. It reflects a simple intention: to allow each visitor to navigate according to their own sensitivity.

Transparency and Credits

Each media item is accompanied by a note specifying its nature: manual creation, hybrid creation, or creation assisted by artificial intelligence, with indication of the tools used when applicable.

Iconographic works are systematically credited based on the available information, with mention of their legal status when known.

This transparency is a constant commitment of the project.

Mythoskolis values human artistic creation and the history of art. The use of digital tools does not obscure the sources of inspiration nor the artistic heritage within which these images are situated.

Iconographic Contributions

If a visitor wishes to suggest a public domain image that could illustrate an entity page or a narrative currently lacking iconography, they are welcome to do so by providing the corresponding URL through the contact form or via the project’s social media channels.

Personal photographs or reproductions are also welcome. Any selected contribution will receive explicit credit, and contributors will be visibly acknowledged in the site’s credits section.

The final selection of illustrations nevertheless remains at the author’s discretion, in order to preserve the overall editorial and visual coherence of the project.

Toward a Contributive Space

While the current version of the site is entirely the result of individual work, the ambition of Mythoskolis is to progressively open a contributive space centered on the Interpretation section.

A community space will soon be proposed, notably through a Discord server, where illustrators, digital artists, creators, or enthusiasts will be able to freely share their visual proposals: manual creations, digital works, AI-assisted pieces, or hybrid approaches.

Contributions may be submitted without any specific stylistic constraint. If a proposal is selected for integration into the site, it will receive explicit and visible credit. The decision to integrate a contribution will nevertheless remain at the author’s discretion in order to preserve the overall editorial and visual coherence of the project.

This opening aims to enrich the project through a diversity of sensibilities that the author could not produce alone, while maintaining a clear artistic direction.

Furthermore, the project aims, in the long term, to finance original human-made creations, without the use of AI, through the support received via Ko-fi. Financial contributions help sustain the overall work behind the site and, whenever possible, allow for the commissioning of illustrations created by artists (see my Ko-fi page ).

Each contribution to the project, whether artistic or financial, may give rise to specific recognition within a dedicated contributors page. The exact form of these distinctions is still under consideration, but the objective is simple: to publicly acknowledge those who take part in building Mythoskolis.

Continuous evolution

Mythoskolis will continue to evolve gradually: improvements to usability, the addition of new entities and narratives, expansion to other corpora, and further development of both the visual language and the genealogical model.

The objective remains the same: to offer a place where ancient traditions can be understood, learned from, and contemplated, through an approach that is accessible, demanding, and modern.

Supporting and sustaining the project

Mythoskolis is an independent project, developed and maintained over the long term. If it proves useful, sparks your curiosity, or accompanies your reading, there are several simple ways to support its continued development.

You can first get in touch via the site’s Contact form ; for feedback, questions, remarks, or suggestions. These exchanges are always read with care and directly contribute to improving the project.

You can also follow the project on Instagram , subscribe, like, or share posts. This visibility is valuable and concretely helps Mythoskolis reach new readers.

Finally, those who wish to do so may support the project through a donation via Ko-fi . Even occasional contributions are a genuine encouragement and allow me to continue developing Mythoskolis with the same level of rigor, care, and attention to detail.
