How to use the Sandbox
Quick guide to use the HoloGraph sandbox.
Switching modes
Mode switching lets you move between exploration (similar to Mythoskolis HoloGraph) and edit mode, which is required to add people and relations.
Creating people
Each time you create a character, a simple profile is provided: first name (required), last name and birth name (optional - you can disable their display and management in the sandbox settings), as well as an optional portrait that you may upload yourself.
Assisted relation creation
When creating a new character, the sandbox takes the existing context into account. It can therefore suggest relevant sibling, kinship, or co-parenting links based on the characters already present in your family tree.
The same applies to suggested last names, helping maintain overall consistency within your genealogy.
Editing created people
You can modify the information of any character displayed on screen at any time by interacting with the 📝 icon. Clicking on the portrait of a satellite character will also reveal this option, without needing to bring them to the center first.
Editing relations
You can view the existing links of a character by clicking the relationship icon in edit mode (also accessible from a satellite character).
A summary of the relationships will be displayed, allowing you to freely modify or delete them.
⚠️ It is possible to assign multiple different types to a relationship between two characters. This feature is intentional, but should be used carefully depending on what you wish to model. Rest assured: no action can alter or disrupt the proper functioning of the tool.
Creating a relation
Do not create the same character twice in your tree.
If you wish to connect two existing characters, use the relationship creation tool from one of them, then select the other to define the nature of their link.
Search and quick access
Just like the Mythoskolis HoloGraph, you can quickly access the character of your choice using the search field.
Since the sandbox also manages surnames, you can access dedicated overview pages listing everyone associated with a specific family name, whether it is a birth name or not. You can also quickly navigate to these characters by clicking on their badge.
Statistics
The menu also gives you access to general statistics about your tree. For completionists, this window makes it easy to identify characters who do not yet have a portrait.
Save and import
The sandbox allows you to save your work so you do not have to start from scratch. No data is stored online, all operations you perform remain entirely local.
As a result, no data is collected and the tool is directly accessible, without any registration form. Your data belongs to you, and you may use your real names and photos if you wish: Mythoskolis will not make any use of them. In return, Mythoskolis declines all responsibility for any fraudulent or defamatory use that may result from the sandbox.
Voluntary model limitations
The sandbox is based on a simple principle: only direct relationships can be created (parent, child, sibling, union).
More distant relationships (grandparents, cousins, uncles, etc.) are not created directly, but naturally emerge from the chain of direct links. This choice ensures a genealogy that remains clear, consistent, and scalable.
A space for experimentation
The sandbox is designed as a space for exploration and experimentation. You can test, modify, delete, and rebuild your trees freely, without any risk of “breaking” anything.
The goal is not immediate perfection, but a progressive understanding of your genealogy.
